I. Details of the event/activity 

On December 5, 2023 at the Gordon College Function Hall, the college of computer studies hosted a research forum as a prerequisite for their course, creating a special opportunity for lower-year students to shine as they presented and defended their research papers—a crucial component of their first-semester projects. The event served as a unifying platform for students, faculty, and professionals, establishing a dynamic exhibition of academic achievements. Each student took the stage to articulate their research findings, methodologies, and conclusions. The atmosphere resonated with curiosity and collaboration, emphasizing the importance of the occasion.

II. Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings) 

The event evolved into a valuable learning experience that brought to light the students' profound understanding of the subjects, showcasing their solid knowledge. It didn't just focus on academic content; instead, it emphasized the critical thinking, effective communication, and the ability to articulate and defend ideas—essential skills for aspiring researchers and professionals. The occasion nurtured a collaborative spirit among students, emphasizing that learning is not confined to individual endeavors but flourishes in a community that exchanges insights and perspectives. The varied research topics showcased underscored the extensive knowledge encompassed within the department.

III. Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level

The event's insights have practical applications in real-world scenarios, emphasizing the vital role of effective communication showcased by the presenters. This skill, essential not just for defending research papers but also for success in professional pursuits, extends beyond academic realms, underscoring the significance of clear articulation in diverse contexts. Additionally, the interdisciplinary character of the event highlights the value of merging knowledge from different fields. This interdisciplinary approach might serve as a guiding principle for upcoming projects, urging students to explore connections between subjects and foster innovative thinking.

IV. Positive feedback (on the event organization) 

I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the research forum. The event provided a stimulating platform where diverse perspectives converged, fostering an enriching exchange of ideas. The presentations were insightful, showcasing the depth of research undertaken by fellow participants. The forum's atmosphere of collaboration and intellectual curiosity created an inspiring environment for learning and networking. Overall, it was a positive and valuable experience that contributed significantly to my understanding of current research trends and encouraged meaningful connections with fellow researchers.

V. Suggestions for improvements to be made/consider for future activities 

To improve the research forum, it is suggested to diversify presentation formats, incorporating elements like workshops and panel discussions to cater to diverse learning styles. Additionally, enhancing networking opportunities through structured sessions and virtual platforms can facilitate meaningful connections among participants. Clear and detailed information about each presentation, including abstracts and speaker bios, should be provided in advance to aid participants in making informed choices. Encouraging audience interaction, such as Q&A sessions and online polls, will contribute to dynamic discussions and active engagement throughout the forum.
