Reflection Paper

I. Details of the Event

The webinar topic is titled: Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI: Empowering a Deeper Conversation. The webinar talked about the challenges and opportunities involving Artificial Intelligence (AI) hit the education world by storm in the spring of 2023. The event was held on Monday, October 9, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm EDT. It was presented by Presented by Matthew Friedman, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools, Quakertown Community School District (PA); Kelly May-Vollmar, Ed.D., Superintendent, Desert Sands Unified School District (CA); David Miyashiro, Ed.D., Superintendent, Cajon Valley Union School District (CA); and Pete Just, CETL, Executive Director, Indiana CTO Council

II. Reflections on the Webinar

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI are the new technological advancement of our time, totally changing the game. AI is a high technology tool that can automate stuff, make predictions like magic, and crunch data like nobody's business. But there's a twist – it's got some serious ethical challenges. It's like having a superhero that's also got to deal with their own moral dilemmas. We're talking about stuff like fairness and bias in decision-making and keeping our personal info safe from prying eyes. AI opens the door for deeper conversations about tech's awesomeness and its need to play nice with society.

Generative AI however is the creative genius in the tech universe. It's like an AI artist, capable of whipping up text, images, and music out of thin air. Think of GPT-3 as the AI poet that can give Shakespeare a run for his money. But here's where it gets wild: it's making us rethink the whole idea of creativity. Who's the real author when the machine does the heavy lifting? This sparks discussions on copyright, originality, and what it means to be creative in the digital age. But, it's not all rainbows and butterflies because Generative AI also has a dark side with deepfakes and fake news. So, we need to have serious chats about how to use it responsibly and set some rules.

And there's more! AI and Generative AI aren't just for artists and tech geeks; they're like turbo boosters for our brainpower. They dive into oceans of data to help us make sense of the world. It's like having a super-intelligent assistant by your side when you're dealing with science, social issues, or just trying to predict the future. This means we can have more informed discussions about all the big stuff. But, it's also pushing us to think about the big picture – the ethics, the philosophy, and how we can make sure AI does good things for humanity.

III. Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level

This topic definitely make me think about the potential that AI has and how it can affect future work and how humanity function. AI itself now has been helping a lot of people so what more can it do in the future?

IV. Positive Feedback

The webinar was informative and specific, a lot of the parts that were said really made me think about the pros and cons of AI in the future.

V. Suggestions for Improvements

The video quality could be better since the webinar was a little blurry and I couldn't read some of the words. Other than that the webinar was smooth.
